“Nate, don’t finish that standup slide.”
Lena Hart stood at the corner of my standing desk with a coffee she wasn’t drinking. The office floor was already loud with keyboard clatter and the badge printer chewing through visitor passes for the morning.
“I need a decision before ten,” she said. “Do we kill the live kiosk, or do we leave the old build running for Halberg?”
The standup deck still sat open. A cursor blinked on a line about animation timing. Her question cut that familiar prep in half.
“The animation is the only piece they clap for,” I told her.
“It still flashes last quarter’s price. I am not walking a client past a lie.” The cup clicked on my desk. “You own the demo. Kill it or don’t. I will not go to the showroom alone.”
Standup Prep Interrupted
She waited like the clock owed her money. Two rows over, someone laughed at a chat thread. None of that helped.
“Kill it,” I said. “If we are pulling the build, we pull it now.”
That answer took my morning with it. Lena was already moving toward the glass corridor, loafers sharp on the tile, rust blouse catching the overhead light. I locked the standing desk and followed my colleague through the workplace like the standup had never existed.
The showroom sat off the main floor, a dim rectangle of frosted panels and product pedestals. Screens along the back wall looped the old build. The live kiosk glowed in the center, waiting for a palm, still proud of a price we no longer sold.
Lena stopped with her hip against the kiosk edge. “Unplug the floor unit. I will kill the wall loop.”
We worked close because the cables ran under the same skirt. Her sleeve brushed my wrist. The contact was small and not accidental. When the wall screens went black, the room dropped to the low amber of the safety strip.
“You have been staring at my mouth in standups,” she said, not looking up from the tablet she had lifted from the cradle.
“You talk with your hands. Hard not to.”
She set the tablet face down. “If you kiss me, I am not going to pretend it was an accident.”
I kissed her. She made a sound against my teeth and fisted the front of my gray shirt, pulling me into the space between her knees and the kiosk. The decision that had dragged us off the floor was still humming in the dark screens. Work had gotten us here. Want kept us.
Her mouth was coffee and mint. She bit my lower lip once, then softer, then not soft at all. My hands found her waist under the rust blouse. The fabric was thin. Heat came through it like she had been running.
“Here,” she said. “Not back at the desks. I want this now.”
I nodded into her neck. That was the whole agreement. She tugged my shirt free of my jeans and got her palms on my stomach. I opened her blouse from the third button down, enough to get at the black bra and the lift of her breasts. She arched when my thumb crossed a nipple through the cup.
The office beyond the frost still murmured. A cart rolled somewhere. Nobody opened the showroom door. Lena’s breath stayed close to my ear, impatient, almost laughing.
“Don’t get polite,” she muttered.
Neither of Us Slowed Down
I shoved the blouse off her shoulders and left it hanging at her elbows. The bra unhooked in the back on the second try. She hissed when the air hit her, then shoved my face down. I took a nipple into my mouth and sucked until her fingers dug into my hair. The other breast got my hand, heavy, warm, the nipple already tight.
She worked my belt with a kind of irritated skill. The zipper followed. My cock pushed out against her knuckles, already wet at the head. Lena looked down, then up, and her mouth went filthy in a quiet way.
“About time.”
I got her trousers open. She wriggled them and the underwear down together to her loafers, then kicked one shoe free so the pants could drop off that ankle. The other shoe stayed on. The mismatch made her look wrecked and still dressed for a client hour.
The padded demo ledge behind the kiosk took her weight. She sat, thighs open, the dark strip of hair already slick. I dragged two fingers through her and she jerked, then grabbed my wrist and made me stay.
“In,” she said. “Stop cataloging.”
Wallet, condom, foil. I rolled it on while she watched, jaw tight. When I stepped between her knees, she hooked the bare ankle around my hip and pulled. I pushed into her in one slow drive that stole the air from both of us. She was hot and soaked and she clenched like she had been waiting through every standup.
“Fuck. Nate.”
I held still until she nodded. Then I fucked her in a rhythm that slapped skin against the ledge. The kiosk hummed dead at her back. Her blouse still hung off her arms. Each thrust made her breasts bounce, and I bent to get my mouth on one again while my hand braced beside her hip.
She met me. No freeze, no faraway look. Her nails scored my shoulder through the shirt I had never fully removed. When I changed the angle, she swore once, sharp, and her head dropped back against the dark screen.
“There. Don’t you dare move off that.”
I stayed on it. The wet sound filled the small room. Sweat stuck my shirt to my back. Lena’s mouth opened on a silent count, then a broken one, and she came around me with her thigh shaking against my waist. I kept going through it because she yanked me closer, not away.
After that she was louder in a whisper. “Your turn. Harder.”
I gave her harder. The condom stayed put. The ledge creaked. She kissed me messy, all tongue, and I spilled with my forehead on her collarbone, hips stuttering, her heel urging the last of it. For a few breaths the showroom was only pulse and the faint HVAC.
She laughed once, low. “We are going to smell like this in the lobby.”
“You can still cancel Halberg.”
“Not a chance.” She pushed at my chest. “Out. I need my trousers.”
I pulled free carefully and dealt with the condom in a tissue from the side counter, tying it off and burying it in the small bin under the demo wipes. She stood on the one shod foot and dragged the trousers up, underwear twisted, then stamped the loose loafer back on. The bra took longer. I hooked it for her while she held her hair up. Buttons on the rust blouse. My belt. Shirt tails in.
We looked almost like colleagues again. Almost.
Tablet Toward the Lobby
Lena picked the tablet up from the kiosk. The screen stayed black. That was the whole point of the morning. She tucked it under her arm like a folder and checked her mouth in the dead glass, then glanced at me once, unreadable and satisfied.
“Standup can wait,” she said. “I am walking Halberg through a dark floor.”
She left by the same glass corridor we had used. I watched her cut across the office toward the lobby, tablet tight against her ribs, loafers already back to that clipped pace. The live kiosk behind me stayed dark. The decision had done exactly what she asked, and then some, and she carried the proof out in one hand without looking back.
