I Chose My Girlfriend After Her Book Errand And We Made Love

The recipe card slipped free the second I cracked the hardbound volume open on my kitchen counter. Neha’s neat blue ink ran across the back, asking me to bring the book before noon if I still wanted her grandmother’s dal method for Sunday lunch.

I locked my own flat, tucked the book under one arm, and rode the scooter across pink-stone lanes toward her side of Jaipur. Traffic thinned near the older residential blocks. Her building’s outer gate stood half open, the watchman waving me through without a second look.

I found her already waiting on the second-floor landing, hair still damp from a quick wash, wearing a soft cotton kurta that fell past her hips. You actually came before noon, she said, eyes bright. I almost thought the card would get ignored.

I held the book out. I wanted the dal more than I wanted to finish my own reports. She laughed once, low, and stepped aside so I could enter. The flat smelled of cardamom and fresh coriander. A kettle clicked off on the stove.

Stay for tea at least, she said, taking the book and setting it on the narrow shelf above the counter. I have twenty minutes before I need to head to the studio. I nodded and followed her into the kitchen, watching her pour water over loose leaves.

What The Note Made Me Decide

She handed me a warm cup and leaned her hip against the counter opposite mine. Eight months of dating had taught me the small tells: the way her thumb circled the rim when she wanted more time with me, the half-smile that meant she was about to invite something real.

I set my cup down first. I can stay longer than twenty minutes if you want company. Her gaze lifted, steady, no surprise. I was hoping you would say that. The studio can wait until evening. I already messaged them that the fabric samples arrived late.

That simple exchange settled everything. No rush, no performance. I crossed the two steps between us and rested my palms lightly on her waist. She rose onto her toes and met my mouth with hers, slow and sure, tasting of tea and mint toothpaste. Her hands slid up my chest and stayed there, fingers curling into the fabric of my shirt.

We kissed until the kettle’s residual heat faded and the only sound left was our breathing. When she pulled back a fraction, her forehead touched mine. Bedroom or right here, Dev? Your call. I chose the bedroom because the afternoon light through her sheer curtains felt kinder, more private, more like the quiet love we had been building rather than a hurried counter encounter.

She led me down the short hall by the hand. Her room was tidy except for a sketch pad open on the desk and a half-folded dupatta across the chair. She closed the door with her heel and turned back into my arms without hesitation.

Kitchen Light Faded Into Her Sheets

I eased the kurta up and over her head only after she lifted her arms for me. Underneath she wore a simple bralette and cotton shorts, nothing staged. I kissed the warm skin just below her collarbone while her fingers worked my shirt buttons open one by one. When the shirt dropped, she pressed her palms flat against my stomach and breathed out a soft laugh. You smell like scooter dust and soap. I like it.

We moved to the bed together. She sat first, then pulled me down so I hovered over her on my elbows. I love you, I said, plain, because the words had been true for weeks and the quiet afternoon finally made space for them. She answered by guiding my hand to the waistband of her shorts. I love you too. Take these off me.

I slid the shorts and bralette away while she unfastened my belt and pushed denim down my hips. Skin met skin without hurry. I kissed down her sternum, across the soft underside of one breast, then the other, feeling her arch and sigh. Her fingers threaded into my hair and stayed gentle, never pushing, only holding.

When I settled between her thighs she was already slick. I stroked her with two fingers first, slow circles that made her hips roll up to meet me. Yes, like that, she murmured. Don’t rush. I didn’t. I kept the rhythm steady until her breathing broke into short, open sounds and her thighs tightened around my wrist.

She reached for the drawer, found a condom, and rolled it onto me herself with careful hands. Then she guided me to her entrance and held my gaze while I pressed in inch by inch. The stretch pulled a low sound from both of us. I stayed still once I was fully inside, forehead against hers, letting her body adjust.

Move when you’re ready, I told her. She answered by wrapping her legs higher around my waist and rolling her hips. I began to thrust in long, measured strokes, deep enough to make her breath hitch, slow enough that every slide felt deliberate. Her hands mapped my back, nails light, then firmer when I angled just right.

The room filled with the soft creak of the bed frame and our mixed breathing. Sweat gathered at the base of my spine. She whispered my name once, then again, voice frayed with pleasure. I slipped a hand between us and rubbed her clit in time with my thrusts until her whole body tightened and she came with a quiet, broken cry against my shoulder.

The clench of her around me pulled my own climax free. I buried myself deep and held there, shaking, while she stroked the back of my neck through it. We stayed joined for a long minute afterward, trading lazy kisses that tasted like relief and something steadier than heat.

I eased out carefully, dealt with the condom, and returned to gather her against my chest. Afternoon light striped the sheets. Her fingers traced idle patterns on my ribs. That was the best version of us yet, she said. I kissed her hair. Agreed.

Her Message After We Dressed

We dozed lightly, then rose and pulled clothes back on without ceremony. She loaned me a clean towel so I could wash my face at the bathroom sink. When I came out she was already in the kitchen again, rinsing our earlier cups, barefoot and calm.

I leaned in the doorway. Still want me to cook that dal on Sunday? She glanced over her shoulder, smiling. Only if you stay the night Saturday. Bring an overnight bag. I can clear space in the closet.

Before I could answer, her phone buzzed on the counter. She wiped her hands, read the screen, and her expression shifted into practical focus. My cousin’s train gets in tomorrow at eleven. I told her I’d pick her up, but the studio just moved my fabric meeting to the same hour.

She turned the phone toward me so I could see the message thread. Can you take the station run instead? I’ll owe you breakfast and the whole afternoon after. I looked at the time stamp, then at her open face. No pressure sat in the request, only trust.

I took the phone, typed a short confirmation under her name, and hit send. Tell her I’ll be at the platform with a sign that has her name. She’ll recognize me from the photos you showed last month. Neha’s shoulders dropped in visible relief. She stepped in, kissed me once more, soft and grateful.

That settles Sunday and tomorrow both, she said. We’re officially on the same calendar now. I pocketed my keys, already rearranging my morning in my head, and felt the quiet weight of the new practical obligation settle comfortably between us like another shared recipe.

Outside, Jaipur’s afternoon heat waited, but inside her flat the air still held the warmth of our skin and the promise of more ordinary days stitched together by choice.
